Oncology Diagnostics Hub

HIRANI hosted the Centre for Process and Innovation CPI for an UK Oncology Diagnostic hub/NI partnership discussion recently.

Earlier in 2024 we represented Northern Ireland at the next generation oncology diagnostics hub forum kick-off in London led by the CPI.

Rahul Kapoor, Director of Health Tech for UKRI CPI is leading the UK-wide RvC proposal for a Next Generation Diagnostics Research and Translation Hub (NGDx Hub), a focused research organisation to leverage the UKs full potential in cancer diagnostics and to:

  • Unite a multidisciplinary network of partners
  • Support end to end technology development and translate innovative new technologies towards the clinic
  • Reduce cost, shorten time to result and improve sensitivity/specifity of next generation diagnostics
  • Build shared and private IP

CPI acts as a catalyst bringing together academia, businesses, government, and investors to translate bright ideas and research into the marketplace. They are the leading independent technology innovation centre and a founding member of the UK Government’s High Value Manufacturing Catapult.

The hub will build stronger connections in the diagnostics space for knowledge exchange and enable industry connections for future collaboration.

It was recognised that NI has robust capabilities in industry and academia, collaborating with clinicians and that there is scalable, commercial, and clinical oncology diagnostics work underway with global insights and relevance, concentrated within the region, underpinned by digital analytics capabilities and providers to enable an end-to-end approach.

  • Partner benefits of being part of the hub will include:
  • Bespoke Innovation development and IP generation with Hub partner companies
  • Translation of methods beyond proof of concept towards the clinic
  • Pre-competitive collaboration opportunities to solve shared challenges
  • Gain insights and access to knowledge sharing
  • Risk sharing
