The healthcare system’s environmental impact is an important concern for the NHS, demonstrated by its goal to be carbon ‘net zero’ by 2045. In providing guidance about clinically and cost-effective health technologies, NICE has the potential to support the NHS’s sustainability objectives. We know that medicines and medical technology developers are increasingly collecting environmental impact data about their products. This may present opportunities for NICE to consider such information as part of its evaluation processes.
This webinar will discuss the findings and implications of a collaborative project, led by NICE’s HTA Lab, exploring what kinds of environmental impacts pharmaceutical companies are measuring, and how such data could be analysed, presented and critiqued.
Panellists will comprise the participants in a mock environmental impact evidence submission process:
• Jamie Elvidge, Senior Scientific Adviser, NICE.
• Olaolu Oloyede, Senior Manager, Market Access, UK and Ireland, Alexion Pharma UK Ltd.
• Caroline Farmer, Senior Research Fellow in HTA and Associate Director for Operations, PenTAG, University of Exeter.
Attendees will have the opportunity to get involved during a Q&A session.
