We’re excited to share that The Playhouse, Developing Healthy Communities and the Northern Ireland Creative Health Network are hosting Learn From Us with the UK’s leading dance and health charity, Rosetta Life. This new integrated dance theatre performance co-created by practising and emerging artists with lived experience of brain injury will also be preceded by a unique Long Table facilitated discussion exploring how creative health can complement local stroke and neurorehabilitation pathways while contributing to wider ambitions around healthier communities and neighbourhood-based care.
We believe the insights from this work, which are already informing health and creative practitioners, administrators and policy makers across the UK, come at a crucial time as Northern Ireland seeks to improve upon very challenging health outcomes and inequalities. While the evidence base for creative health continues to grow, it is still rarely reflected in policy and strategy at pace. Learn from Us will bring together healthcare professionals, public health leads, artists, academics, voluntary and community sector partners, local business partners, carers and people with lived experience of stroke and brain injury to explore:
Prevention and health inequalities
Supporting local ambitions to shift toward preventative, community-based approaches, helping reduce isolation and improve wellbeing for people living with long-term conditions, including those most impacted by health inequalities.
Neighbourhood health and integrated working
Contributing to place-based collaboration across Integrated Care Systems, local authorities and the voluntary sector, strengthening co-production and lived experience leadership within community rehabilitation pathways.
Workforce development and community capacity
Providing targeted training to upskill local artists and practitioners in inclusive, trauma-informed creative health practice, helping build sustainable regional capacity for community-based health and wellbeing support.
As well as offering inspiration through the creative voices of people living with brain injury we want to bring together diverse perspectives to move beyond discussion and towards actionable, evidence-informed approaches for embedding creative health into policy, practice, and community life. As a key stakeholder in this conversation we would like to invite you to both the Long Table discussion and performance. Details are as follows:
