QUB Vision and Language Cluster is pleased to announce the 3rd annual Symposium “One World, Many Modalities” sponsored by Oxford Instruments.

Whether you are interested in learning more about AI, Computer Vision, and NLP or are already an expert, this symposium is for everyone! The symposium will bring together students, researchers, academics, and local industry to explore a range of timely topics.

Ø Keynote talk from Prof Haiping Lu (University of Sheffield and Director of the UK Open Multimodal AI Network) will outline “Deployment-Centric Generative and Multimodal AI for Scientific Discovery”

3 Oral Sessions

Ø V&L for Medicine and Biology

o From extracting information about cells and organisms, modelling changes from the microscale, to macroscale, and even whole organisms introduces many complex challenges. This session will see how AI combined with cutting edge imaging can help us see more than meets the eye.

Ø V&L for Business

o LLMs and Gen AI has been immersed in everyday activities. But how can these techniques be used in real-life business settings. Whether it be financial planning or “Document AI” this session will give a glimpse in to what is possible and how these methods could be utilised in the future.

Ø Working with Limited Data

o AI needs lots of data – right?? Sometimes that isn’t possible. This session will provide fundamental information for learning with limited data techniques, highlight cutting-edge research developments, and showcase real-world case studies in both language and vision domains.
