The postholder will join the Airway Innate Immunity Research group led by Prof Cliff Taggart at the WellcomeWolfson institute for Experimental Medicine. This MRC-funded position will involve the evaluation of hostdirected therapeutic peptides for inhaled delivery to the chronically inflamed and infected lung. The post is a suitable for a scientist with the appropriate research experience and the successful applicant will have responsibilities in independent research, supervision, planning, day-to-day lab management, collaborations, and outreach. The post is suited to a highly ambitious and collaborative individual and is available for 1 year in the first instance.
About the person:
The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
Have or be about to obtain* a PhD in Immunology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a closely related area (*must be obtained within 3 months of commencement of employment).
Hold Home Office modules 1-3.
Have substantial recent research experience in immunology, biochemistry, or cell biology to include recent extensive hands-onexperience in the following:
Evaluation of lung inflammation in in vivo mouse models
Assays for innate immune responses including ELISAs and Western blotting.
Knowledge of bacterial culture and infection in vitro or in vivo lung infection models
