Partnerships, Knowledge Exchange and Resource Alignment

MATRIX, the Northern Ireland Science & Technology Panel, launched the Life and Health Sciences Report for Northern Ireland at our Health Tech Spring Conference, held at the Titanic Belfast Convention Centre this week.

The report, co-chaired by Richard Kennedy, Matrix panel member and Global Vice President and Medical Director at Almac Group, and Joann Rhodes, Chief Executive of HIRANI, outlines key recommendations aimed at bolstering Northern Ireland’s life and health sciences (LHS) sector and aligning it with the Minister for the Economy, Conor Murphy’s, economic vision.

The report recommends the establishment of a multidisciplinary advisory panel to develop a unified LHS strategy, aligning City and Growth Deals (CGDs) Centres of Excellence (CoE) developments with regional and global goals, and providing strategic oversight to CGDs and their respective councils.

By fostering collaboration between CGDs Centres of Excellence, the advisory group will facilitate knowledge exchange and resource alignment, accelerating innovation and productivity within the sector.

Minister Murphy officially announced the report launch in his keynote address and expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am pleased to officially launch the new Life and Health Sciences Matrix report. Collaboration is key. The panel will focus on partnerships, knowledge exchange and resource alignment to accelerate innovation and productivity within the life and health sciences sector. My Department will engage with the sector to advance these recommendations as a matter of urgency, given the opportunities that exist.”

The launch of the MATRIX Life and Health Sciences Report signifies a pivotal moment for Northern Ireland’s life and health sciences sector. MATRIX remains committed to inspiring and informing initiatives that will propel the region towards a prosperous and sustainable future.
